Exhibition

The exhibition “Fourth Generation”, held in the National Museum of History of Ukraine in World War II, is telling about descendants of soldiers of the Red Army and Ukrainian Insurgent Army, who are now defending our country side by side. They are the fourth generation of heroes. Centuries pass, political maps change drastically, but one thing remains constant: wherever our enemy comes from – sons and daughters of Ukraine would defend their Motherland. The exhibition is held by one of the brightest artist of contemporary Ukrainian photography Roman Nikolaev in cooperation with a photographer Serhiy Lebedev.

10. Жорж

Junior sergeant Vadym Zhorzh is a soldier of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Naval Forces. He took part in the war against Russian occupants in the East of Ukraine. His great-grandfather, Petro Kapkanenko, Sergeant of the Guard of the Red Army, fought against Nazism during the World War II. He participated in expulsion of Nazis from Ukraine.

9. Лугін

Lieutenant Artem Luhin, a serviceman of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Naval Forces. He took part in the war against Russian occupants in the East of Ukraine. His grandfather, Volodymyr Shamanayev, fought against Nazism during the Second World War as a part of the forces of the Red Army. He fought in the Battle of Kursk.

1. Власенко

Sergeant major Oleksandr Vlasenko participated in the war against Russian invaders in the East of Ukraine in February-April 2016 in the ranks of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Both his grandfathers, Andriy Lytvyn and Ivan Vlasenko, fought against Nazism during the World War II as soldiers of the Red Army.

11. Мирка

Senior lieutenant Bohdan Myrka, a serviceman of the Separate Artillery Battalion of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Naval Forces. He took part in the war against Russian occupants in the East of Ukraine. His great-grandfather, Mykola Skorokhod, fought against Nazism in the ranks of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army during the World War II.

12. Олешко

Captain Dmytro Oleshko, a serviceman of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Naval Forces. He took part in the war against Russian occupants in the east of Ukraine. His grandfather, Trokhym Rudyi, fought against Nazism during the World War II in the ranks of the Red Army.

13. Киричко

Junior lieutenant Vitaly Kyrychko, a serviceman of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Naval Forces. He took part in the war against Russian occupants in the East of Ukraine. His grandfather, Fedir Kyrychko, fought against Nazism during the World War II as a part of the Red Army forces. He participated in expulsion of Hitler troops from Ukraine, Hungary and Austria.

14. Скородід

Sergeant major Tetiana Skorodid, a soldier of the Separate Kyiv Regiment of the President of Ukraine. She took part in the war against Russian occupants in the East of Ukraine. Her grandfather Mykola Honcharenko fought against Nazism in the World War II as a sergeant of the Red Army. Met the end of the war in Prague.

15. Росновський

Sergeant Andriy Rosnovskyi, a serviceman of the 64th Separate Cannon Artillery Battalion of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Naval Forces. He took part in the war against Russian occupants in the East of Ukraine. His grandfather, Hryhorii Rosnovskyi, fought against Nazism during the World War II in the ranks of the Red Army. He took part in the Budapest Offensive and the Vistula-Oder Offensive.

16. Костюк

Oksana Kostiuk, Private First Class of the 45th Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine. Her great-grandfather Mykola Mutsuranovsky fought against Nazism during the World War II in the ranks of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.

2. Барабаш

Sergeant major Serhiy Barabash took part in the war against Russian invaders in the east of Ukraine in January-August 2016 as a member of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. His grandfather, Oleksandr Barabash, fought against Nazism in the ranks of the Red Army and took part in the Battle of Berlin.

3. Тотомир

Senior sergeant Vitaliy Totomyr, a serviceman of the Prince Danylo Halytskyi 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. He took part in the war against Russian invaders in the East of Ukraine. His grandfather, Fedir Savytskyi, fought against Nazism during the World War II as a soldier of the Red Army. He participated in expulsion of Nazis from Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.

4. Шемотюк

Junior lieutenant Oleksandr Shemotiuk, a serviceman of the 101th Separate Signal Regiment of the Ukrainian Air Force. In 2014 he took part in the war against Russian invaders in the East of Ukraine. He was awarded the III Class Order for Courage. His grandfather fought against Nazism in Soviet guerrilla groups during the World War II.

5. Шинкарчук

Junior lieutenant Volodymyr Shynkarchuk,  a serviceman of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force. He took part in the war against Russian invaders in the East of Ukraine. He was awarded with the Defender of the Motherland Medal. His great-grandmother Oleksandra Marsynyuk fought against Nazism in the ranks of the Red Army during the World War II.

6. Воробйов

Junior sergeant Oleksiy Vorobiov participated in the war against Russian invaders in the East of Ukraine in 2014. He was defending Sloviansk town in July 2014 as a part of the 25th Airborne Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.  He was decorated with a Medal For Courage. His great-grandfather Volodymyr Pyshonin was a soldier of the Red Army during the World War II.

7. Маришев

Senior lieutenant Ruslan Maryshev, a serviceman of the 90th Airmobile Battalion of the Airborne Troops of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He took part in the war against Russian invaders in the East of Ukraine. Knight of the II and III Class Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyy. His great-grandfather Serhii Husakov fought against Nazism during the World War II in the troops of the Red Army. He participated in the expulsion of the Nazis from Slovakia.

8. Смаль

Senior lieutenant Oleh Smal, a serviceman of the 95th Separate Airmobile Battalion of the High Mobile Airborne Troops of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He took part in the war against Russian invaders in the East of Ukraine. Knight of the III Class Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyy. His grandfather, Volodymyr Mileiko, was a Red Army soldier during the World War II and fought against Nazism. During the end of the war fought in the Far East.
